Day 1574

Day 1574 Record Keeping
Day 1545 Fixed Meditation (20 min, Vipassana)
Day 1420 Writing (3, 20 min Pomodoro, hard)
Day 959 Rowing (
Week 1, Day 3, GMB)
Day 700 Mobility/Stretching (
10 min, back smash & hip stretch)
Day 10 Flossing (SRHI = 56, 6 teeth)

Good sleep. Very tired and distracted today. I think it had a lot to do with some text messages and social media distractions. I think it might be a really good idea to try to control social media usage in general, rather than just when I'm working.

Day 1572

Day 1572 Record Keeping
Day 1543 Fixed Meditation (20 min, samatha/vipassana)
Day 1418 Writing (6, 20 min Pomodoros, really hard)
Day 957 Rowing (HIIT, 15s:60s, 14 min
)
Day 698 Mobility/Stretching (
10 min, back smash & hip stretch)
Day 103 Sunday Groceries
Day 8 Flossing (SRHI = 54, 6 teeth)

Bad sleep. Incredibly depleted today and tired and just frustrated today. Started with very little pep, did my ego depletion protocol, and finished everything at a higher intensity today. I think this just underscores the idea that with the right techniques it doesn't matter what kind of day you're having in terms of motivation or even willpower. There are ways to regenerate them.

Day 1568

Day 1568 Record Keeping
Day 1539 Fixed Meditation (20 min, vipassana)
Day 1414 Writing (6, 20 min Pomodoros)
Day 953 Rowing (kettlebell swings, HIIT, 15s:60s, 14 min
)
Day 694 Mobility/Stretching (10 min, back smash)
Day 4 Flossing (SRHI = 44, 6 teeth)

Ok sleep. Woke up super depressed and absolutely depleted mentally. I went through my ego depletion protocol. Only this time I added a rough test-retest, asking myself how depleted I was on a scale of 1-10. Starting with a 1, I retested after each action on the ego-depletion recovery protocol. I started at a 1 - super foggy headed with no will to do anything other than languish in my own depression - to a 7.

The rest of my day was pretty damn productive. I did more meditation, hard work on writing, and a HIIT. The HIIT was interesting because I don't think I've done kettlebell swings since before I was exposed to Kelly Starrett. Doing it while bracing my core for good posture made it an entirely different experience. It was more challenging and I really felt it work my entire core.

Day 1567

Day 1567 Record Keeping
Day 1538 Fixed Meditation (15 min, vipassana)
Day 1413 Writing (3, 20 min Pomodoros)
Day 952 Rowing (walking, 25 min
)
Day 693 Mobility/Stretching (DID NOT DO)
Day 3 Flossing (SRHI = 42, 6 teeth)

Great sleep. The way the day progressed I just didn't have time to exercise - I had intended to walk, so I just did it around the block at the place I had dinner. That was great. Before I would have just omitted it.

Day 1566

Day 1566 Record Keeping
Day 1537 Fixed Meditation (15 min, vipassana)
Day 1412 Writing (3, 20 min Pomodoros)
Day 951 Rowing (biking, 25 min
)
Day 692 Mobility/Stretching (10 min, back smash & hip stretch)
Day 2 Flossing (SRHI = 15, 6 teeth)

Great sleep. Had a breakthrough in meditation - I think I will chase that in respect to practice for the rest of the week.

Day 1565

Day 1565 Record Keeping
Day 1536 Fixed Meditation (10 min, samatha)
Day 1411 Writing (6, 20 min Pomodoros)
Day 950 Rowing (
Week 1,  Day 2 GMB)
Day 691 Mobility/Stretching (10 min, back smash & hip stretch)
Day 102 Sunday Meal Prep, now Sunday Groceries (SRHI = 81)
Day 1 Flossing (SRHI = 12, 6 teeth)

Great sleep. Started recording my Sunday Meal..er, Groceries habit. That's been going quite strong and has really help me add more automaticity to my eating. Checked the SRHI on that to assess how strong it is - looks good.

I also began a new habit, Flossing, one I've been planning on doing for a while now. It's a pretty easy implementation. Lydia used my process to institute her own flossing habit a long time ago, and it is still going strong. She said it's the easiest habit, but it's something that's always been difficult for me, so I'm starting small. Someone once said to do one tooth at a time to start to lower the daily minimum. I did 6 today, heheh. I feel that since it's so simple, it might be a good behavior to map out my full 3 dimensional graph of progression, with vectors for time in days, SRHI, and pushing the behavior (in this case, number of teeth). I'll include the full formalization in the Articles section.

Day 1561

Day 1561 Record Keeping
Day 1532 Fixed Meditation (10 min, gratitude)
Day 1407 Writing (6, 20 min Pomodoros)
Day 946 Rowing (40 min, walk
)
Day 687 Mobility/Stretching (10 min, back smash & hip stretch)

Great sleep. I really feel my capacity to do more has expanded today. It's an odd feeling - my schedule has been all over the place, and work has been interrupting the discharge of other habits. My mobility and exercise habits are still unsteady. Yet across every skill, I just feel I can push. I can't tell if this is a result of simply being more stable in terms of life, or it's as a result of rotating what I do every day for things like meditation and exercise.

I feel like I'm chomping at the bit for those two habits in particular. It feels like the natural bump you get after establishing a Tiny Habit. After that bump progress seems to naturally plateau. And it has been really difficult to force habits, mostly for time. I've resisted even a 5 minute increase. I'm curious if oscillating skills every day somehow causes the skill to want to grow.

Either way, I'm going to figure out what to do. The danger in these times has always been either trying to bite off more than I can chew (resulting in some sort of collapse), or just lolling in indecision.

Day 1559 & Recording Issues

Day 1559 Record Keeping (DID NOT DO)
Day 1530 Fixed Meditation (10 min, metta)
Day 1405 Writing (7, 20 min Pomodoros)
Day 944 Rowing (Day 1, Week 1, GMB Fitness
)
Day 685 Mobility/Stretching (10 min, back smash & hip stretch)

Great sleep.

Recording Issues
It's fascinating to me how habits impact each other. In the past I've talked about this as "habit harmonics". Sometimes they work well together, like when you feel motivated to exercise AND eat healthy together. But a lot of the times they don't.

Lately I've had huge issues finding time to record. Usually I have a set amount I work before I call it quits for the day. But I've been writing and working a lot lately, and will often come back and keep pushing even after I'm done with my initial set. In these cases I'll continue putting off recording until I'm done with the theoretical span of when I'll work on my writing.

Since I'm pushing things, and want to do as much as possible, that theoretical span is all day. So, my recording become an afterthought.

The last time I really pushed was NaNoWriMo, and I don't remember exactly when I recorded. This has come up several times before. I think in cases like this it might just be good to record after I finish my routine, and then if I do anything more, appending it the next day.
